Location

Coronel Vidal is located in the interior sector of the Mar Chiquita municipality, in Buenos Aires Province. It is situated about 40 km from the Atlantic coast and functions as the municipal headquarters, concentrating administration and main services.
It is mainly accessed through provincial routes that connect it to both the Atlantic coast and the interior of Buenos Aires, in the heart of the Pampas.

The City

It is a rural city with a quiet pace, typical of the interior of Buenos Aires. Its identity is strongly linked to the countryside, agricultural activity and community life.
It has basic urban infrastructure, tree-lined squares, residential neighborhoods and an environment of open fields, temporary lakes and rural watercourses.
It is not a mass tourism destination, but it is a key point to understand the functioning and history of the municipality.
Here nature is not just for postcards: it's everyday life. And that, for wildlife, adds many points.

Avifauna

The environment of Coronel Vidal is very valuable for sighting field and grassland birds, an increasingly scarce group in intensely urbanized areas.

Predominant environments:

Open fields and grasslands
Temporary lagoons and floodplains
Rural streams and canals
Fences, mountains and isolated groves

What birds can be observed?

They are common in the area:
Pampas grassland birds
Day and night birds of prey
Birds associated with rural lagoons
Open field passerines

During wet times, temporary lagoons attract waterfowl and migratory birds, while fields and fences serve as excellent observation points for raptors.

Value for sighting
Coronel Vidal offers something different from the rest of the party: bird watching of the interior of the Pampas, perfectly complementing the coastal and wetland environments.
It is ideal for expanding lists of species and observing natural behaviors in large, uninterrupted spaces.
